Six
thousand athletes and their families and friends will descend upon
Kensico Dam Plaza, Westchester’s own “Central Park” for the
traditional opening of the games on Wednesday, July 25, 2007.The
ceremonies will include the dramatic lighting of the torch and the march of
the athletes,
a marching band, entertainment and fireworks will complete
the event. There are a
limited amount of tickets available for the public for this event,
which will be broadcast live on local television.
Opening
Ceremonies Information:

No parking
is available at the Kensico Dam Plaza.
Free shuttle bus service will
operate from Westchester Community College
beginning at 5 p.m.;
spectators must enter at the Grasslands West Gate only. Only
those with Opening Ceremony Tickets will be permitted to board
the buses. Handicapped accessible parking and shuttle buses
will be available at the college; for questions, call (914)

The Bronx
River Parkway will be closed from 4 p.m. to Midnight
that day, from Virginia Road in North White Plains to
Lakeview Avenue in Valhalla. So, if you plan to drive to the
college during that time, you must take an alternate route.

No shuttle
bus service will be available during the opening ceremonies
from approximately 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Only authorized
vehicles will be allowed access to the area on the day of
the event.

Please note: we
ask that you be in your seat by 7:30 p.m. for the beginning
of the ceremonies, and remain at the dam afterward to allow
the athletes to board their buses and exit the area. Shuttle
bus service will resume once the athletes have left the
area.
